![]() SNAPPER PRO ZERO TURN PROI like the Gravely Pro Turn 152 but may be a bit over budget in the $7,000+ range. Lately I've been looking at the Toro Z Master 2000 and in the process came across the Snapper Pro (S125XT or S150XT) which also seems to be a great value. Originally I was looking at the Bobcat Fastcat because it seems like you get a lot of mower for the money. I have several good dealers nearby: Gravely, Scag, Walker, Bobcat, Toro, JD, Snapper, Hustler. Originally my budget was $5,000 but I'm looking at some mowers that are in the $6,500 range which I can stretch to. I'm focusing on high-end residential or preferably entry-level commercial mowers. I'm looking for a mower that will last a long time, be durable and will put down a nice stripe. My lot is about 1.6 acres with 1 acre cleared. One thing's for sure - it certainly got me to thinking more about how important a comfortable seat and a comfortable ride should play into making my decision.I've been researching zero turn mowers for a while now and finally have some grass at the new house so need to pull the trigger on something. Whether the suspension really helps I can't say, as I've not gotten a chance to actually try one, other than on a smooth dealer parking lot, which in no way proves anything about how they will actually feel out in the real world mowing a bumpy lawn for several hours. It was a great learning experience getting to actually mow my property, which is about 5 acres total.įirst off - although it was a nice mower in some regards, I didn't really care for some of the features of the Worldlawn which is kinda irrelevant as I'd never considered them anyway.īut my MAIN take away was this - On my somewhat bumpy ground a zero turn mower will beat you pretty hard! I wasn't even mowing at a high speed due to the fact that I was kinda feeling things out and getting used to the controls etc.Īfter only a couple hours of mowing I was thinking, damn, I'm gonna do a little more research on those suspension models such as Ferris and Simplicity! Īnyway I picked it up on Friday evening and returned it Saturday evening so had plenty of time to play around and try it out. It was a fairly new mower with only 180 hours on the clock, so it wasn't beat up or worn out. However, because I'd never owned or operated a zero turn mower, I decided to rent one from a local equipment rental business since there aren't really any dealers nearby me that do mower demos.Īnyway the mower they had available was a Worldlawn Cobra which is at least a somewhat similar sized and configured mower as those mentioned. I was leaning heavily toward Hustler Fastrak SD, John Deere Z540R, or possibly Kubota Z700 series. The reason I ask - When I started my own research I had never even considered any of the 'suspension' models such as Ferris or Simplicity. Have you ever owned/operated a zero turn of similar size and configuration as those you mentioned? Is the property you'll be mowing flat or hilly? Smooth or somewhat bumpy? I can't really give you any expert advice since I myself have also been researching Zero Turns for the past month, and also now considering the Citation XT as one of my choices. So.better machine with no suspension for a few bucks more, or suspension and a lesser machine for a few bucks less? I know either mower would last me a very long time, but would love some thoughts on these two machines specifically. I will only be mowing 3 yards totaling about 4 acres. The only big trade off and lingering question is the suspension. Briggs Commercial, bigger tires, and a few other things. Hydro Gear 4400's vs 3400's, Kawasaki XT engine vs. The Snapper Pro is an overall better machine, I know. That's about $300 off MSRP on the Citation but $800 off MSRP for the Snapper. I can get a Simplicity Citation XT for $6,000 or a Snapper Pro S150xt for $6,500. Dealer is not an issue, a local dealer can/will service both, as they're practically the same machines. I waited until I had it narrowed down before making a post.because pretty sure i've ready every post related to either of these mowers. Been researching zero turns to death over the last month. ![]()
